This is a required course for all students. Students, with support of agency supervision, will become directly involved in social work services and systems within the community, and will experience socially responsible professional practice. Seminars assist in the integration of theory and practice by broadening the professional knowledge base through sharing of experience and knowledge.
All students must have a minimum GPA of 70% on the social work portion of the BSW to be eligible to register for 187-448. CSW students require a minimum GPA of 70% on all social work courses taken up to the point of application.
Practicum is the equivalent of 16 weeks full-time, including a mandatory skills review laboratory which is held prior to the field placement. A part-time practicum may be arranged. Graded on a Pass/Fail basis. No mid-term break.
