This course will provide the Language Instructor Trainees with an introduction to the general stages of human growth and development, with an emphasis on the effects/roles of language in that development. The socio-cultural, cognitive, and physical aspects of a child’s language growth will be explored in view of their practical implications for language learning in the classroom. The effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effect will be covered, as they relate to a child’s over-all development and academic progress.
